Texas Governor Greg Abbott vetoed a bill Sunday that would have banned all THC consumables, including popular gummies and vapes. The proposed law would have made it a misdemeanor to own, make, or sell products containing THC, the compound that causes marijuana’s high.

Abbott’s veto preserves a booming billion-dollar industry in Texas, where marijuana remains largely illegal. Supporters of the ban cited safety concerns and lack of oversight. Critics argued it would hurt patients seeking relief and cost jobs and revenue. Texas remains one of the most restrictive states for marijuana access.
