An Indiana man struck it lucky during a visit to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas.
Dewy White of Paoli found a sparkling 2.71-carat white diamond while digging in the park’s 37-acre search field on October 2nd.
White and his wife were on a road trip and spent several days at the park searching for gems. He discovered the diamond while sifting dirt in the Canary Hill area after taking advice from another visitor.
White named his find the Hope Diamond, saying he’d prayed they would uncover one.
Park officials say it’s the fourth-largest diamond found at the park this year, where more than 400 diamonds have already been registered.
