Sheriff Wayne Easley says staff discovered Harry Cooper of Texarkana, Arkansas, lying on the floor during a routine check around 1:26 a.m. Life-saving efforts were made by jail staff, the on-site nurse, and LifeNet EMS, but Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cooper had been held on a felony theft of property charge and was awaiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Corrections. His body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy. The incident remains under investigation.
