The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department is reminding drivers to be extra cautious as the new school year begins and buses return to the roads. Officers say most buses in the city now have stop arm cameras
These cameras are designed to protect children by capturing images of vehicles — including license plates — when drivers illegally pass a stopped bus with its stop arm extended. What happens if you don’t stop? Bus drivers are reporting violations directly to the School Resource Officer, and traffic citations are being issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. First violation? That ticket will cost you up to $645.
Police urge drivers to slow down, pay attention, and always stop for school buses to help keep children safe this school year.
