Texarkana College’s Workforce Division is reporting strong growth, with enrollment up 42 percent from last year.

Texarkana College’s Workforce Division is reporting strong growth, with enrollment up 42 percent from last year.

Officials say more students are returning to upskill or enter the workforce as demand rises for trained workers. The college has launched a new plumbing program this fall, offering hands-on training two days a week and online learning the rest of the time.

Students can earn $16 to $25 an hour as apprentices while training, making plumbing a high-demand, high-earning career. Texarkana College is also expanding aviation programs, with pilot training set to begin this spring.
