A 49-year-old Texarkana man is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly pushing his girlfriend down steep porch steps, breaking her leg.
Authorities say Christopher Esparza was arguing with the woman January 16 at a home in the 700 block of Eylau Hills when he pushed her from behind, causing her to fall.
Deputies reported the steps were unusually steep. The woman was found on the ground in severe pain and was treated by a neighbor who identified himself as a volunteer firefighter.
Esparza was arrested and later released on a $50,000 bond.
If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
