A 22-year-old man is in the Bowie County jail after allegedly stabbing a Texarkana resident last month. Police say Yahir Barboza-Valerio stabbed a 41-year-old man in the abdomen on April 20, after the victim stopped his SUV on Connella Street to confront a group throwing beer bottles at his car.
The victim told police he was picking up his daughter when he got out to question the group and was stabbed by Barboza-Valerio. He ran to a nearby home for help, leaving his vehicle behind.
Investigators used social media and a hospital interview to identify the suspect. Barboza-Valerio is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $125,000 bond.
