The Texarkana Texas Police Department says residents should expect a larger-than-usual emergency alert test this Thursday.
Officials say the test is part of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System and will run through the Hyper-Reach notification system. The goal is to make sure alerts work properly, show residents what to expect in a real emergency, and identify any issues.
People may receive the test alert by phone call, text, or email depending on their settings. Police say there’s no cause for concern if you get the message.
They also encourage residents to sign up for the free alert system to stay informed during severe weather or emergencies. You can sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/TexarkanaNotification
