The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is reminding residents to take simple steps to help prevent home and vehicle break-ins.

Officers say always lock doors and windows, install motion lights or cameras, and avoid posting vacation plans online. Keep valuables out of sight and report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
For vehicles, police urge drivers to lock up, roll up windows, and never leave valuables in plain view. Parking in well-lit areas and using anti-theft devices can also help.
Police say staying alert and working together can make Texarkana a safer place for everyone.
