An Ashdown man is facing a felony forgery charge after allegedly giving a bail bondsman a counterfeit $100 bill.
An Ashdown man is facing a felony forgery charge after allegedly giving a bail bondsman a counterfeit $100 bill.
According to a probable cause affidavit, 45-year-old Jason Roe Thompson paid $135 in cash to bondsman Janet Fondren of Bail Bond Financing Inc. after she arranged his release from the Little River County jail on March 5.
Fondren later discovered that one of the bills was fake and marked “media money” and reported it to authorities.
A sheriff’s deputy located Thompson at a convenience store later that same day and returned him to jail.
After being charged with felony forgery, Thompson’s bond was set at $15,000. Court records show he again used the same bondsman to post bond.
Thompson has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court in June for a pretrial hearing.
