The FM 989/Kings Highway bridge over Interstate 30 in Texarkana will close to all traffic beginning around 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, as crews prepare to replace the structure.
Starting at midnight on Saturday, June 13, all Interstate 30 traffic through the construction area will be diverted to frontage roads for approximately one week while the bridge is demolished. Drivers will be routed through designated exits and entrance ramps in both directions.
The new bridge will provide increased vertical clearance, wider travel lanes, shared-use lanes for motorists and cyclists, sidewalks for pedestrians, and a new turnaround bridge. Construction is expected to take about 19 months, weather permitting.
