AEP SWEPCO is temporarily suspending residential service disconnections for nonpayment as extreme heat continues across Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.
The utility says the suspension will remain in effect through the end of the week to help customers stay safe and comfortable during the dangerous temperatures.
SWEPCO reminds customers that energy use and charges will continue to accumulate. Customers are encouraged to monitor their usage and contact the utility early to ask about bill assistance, flexible payment options, and other available resources.
Officials also urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on older adults and others who may be at greater risk.
